Is fitkari safe to use every day? Side effects and who should avoid it
By the Vura teamShare
Short answer: for most people, yes. Using fitkari on healthy underarm skin every day is generally fine. Any side effects are usually mild: a little dryness, stinging on cuts, or irritation if your skin is sensitive.
Here is what to watch for, and how to use it without trouble.
Possible side effects
Stinging on cuts and fresh shaves. Fitkari is an astringent. On broken skin it stings for a moment. This is the most common thing people notice.
Dryness or tightness. This usually happens when a homemade solution is too strong, or when a block is rubbed on hard.
Redness or itching. Some people's skin is simply more sensitive. This is uncommon, but it happens.
An allergic reaction. This is rare. If you get a rash that spreads, swelling, or blisters, stop using it and see a doctor.
How to do a patch test
If you have sensitive skin, or you are trying fitkari for the first time, test it first.
- Put a small amount on the inside of your forearm.
- Leave it for 24 hours.
- No redness, no itching? You are fine to use it on your underarms.
Who should be careful
- Broken or irritated skin. Wait until cuts, rashes or a flare of eczema have healed.
- Straight after waxing or hair removal. Give your skin a day to calm down.
- Pregnant, breastfeeding, or being treated for a skin condition? Ask your doctor before trying any new product. This goes for anything you put on your skin, not just fitkari.
- Children. Keep blocks and powder out of reach.
And two simple rules: do not swallow it, and keep it away from your eyes.
What about the aluminium?
Fitkari contains aluminium as part of its structure. We would rather say that plainly than hide it.
You may have read claims linking aluminium in antiperspirants to breast cancer or Alzheimer's. Those claims have been studied many times, and major health and cancer research bodies have not found a causal link.
Fitkari also works differently from antiperspirant salts. Antiperspirants are made to plug your sweat ducts. Fitkari stays on the surface of your skin and works on the bacteria that cause smell. We explain the difference in potassium alum is not aluminium chlorohydrate.
How to use it every day without irritation
- Apply to clean, dry skin. Not damp, not straight after a hot shower while skin is still red.
- Use a light hand. Two or three sprays, or a few gentle strokes of a wet block. More does not work better.
- Do not layer products. One product on thin underarm skin is enough.
- Give a fresh shave a few hours. Or shave at night and apply in the morning.
- Look for a formula that cares for your skin. This is why ours has aloe and glycerin in it and no drying alcohol, so daily use does not leave your skin tight.

When to stop and see a doctor
- A rash that does not settle within a day or two of stopping
- Swelling, blistering or severe itching
- A sudden change in how your underarms smell, or sweating that becomes much heavier than usual
The last one is not about fitkari at all. Big, sudden changes in sweat or smell are worth mentioning to a doctor, because they can have other causes.
